Responsibilities:
- Generate submittal and installation documentation, including lighting control device layouts, one-line riser diagrams, cut sheets, installation details, and wiring diagrams.
- Work closely with the sales team to understand customer requirements and create accurate photometric layouts using industry-standard software.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the lighting industry.
- Actively research and understand the products available on our line card.
- Learn, troubleshoot, and eventually master advanced lighting protocols (such as DMX) and specialized control hardware to support complex project requirements.
- Develop and maintain business relationships with sales agents, specifiers, electrical distributors, and electrical contractors.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the sales team, including product selection, customization options, and addressing technical queries.
- Support the sales team during customer engagements and assist in conducting product demonstrations and training sessions for customers, showcasing the advantages and features of our lighting solutions.
- Analyze electrical plans, specifications, and sequences of operations.
- Review project quotations, purchase orders, and sales orders to identify and resolve any discrepancies in bill of materials.
- Ensure submittal and installation documents are accurate and complete.
- Proactively communicate project changes and update documentation accordingly.
- Coordinate custom product requirements with engineering, operations, and production teams.
- Manage multiple projects to meet customer and project deadlines.
- Attend and lead project meetings and conference calls with clients and customers.
- Respond quickly and professionally to requests from sales representatives, consultants, engineers, electricians, and end-users.
- Organize daily and weekly schedules to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology (EET), Architecture, or a related field. Recent graduates with a strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
- In lieu of a degree, 3+ years of relevant work experience in the lighting and controls industry will be considered. Entry-level candidates with a demonstrably strong technical background and an eagerness to learn are also highly encouraged to apply.
- Proven ability to quickly grasp and understand complex electrical or lighting systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical information.
- Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of lighting industry standards and regulations is preferred.
- Proficiency in photometric software and lighting design tools, such as Visual Lighting Software, is preferred.
- Experience with, or strong desire to learn, advanced lighting control protocols. DMX experience is strongly preferred; familiarity with systems like DALI, nLight, or Cresnet is a significant plus.
- An interest or foundational skills in programming/scripting (such as Python or C++) to help automate engineering tasks, match datasets, and streamline internal project tracking tools are strongly encouraged.
- Attention to detail while thoroughly reviewing project documents.
- This role is in-office, in our Downtown Boston location.
